Different cutting conditions and stainless steel workpiece materials will make the depth of work hardening layer from dozens μ M down to hundreds μ M (usually 100 μ m-200 μ m).
When cutting stainless steel, the rake angle should be properly increased without reducing the strength of the tool. The appropriate increase of tool rake angle will reduce the plastic deformation ability, cutting heat and cutting force of the tool, and the trend of work hardening will also be reduced. Accordingly, the tool durability will be significantly improved. Generally speaking, the tool rake angle is maintained at 12 ° -20 °, and the specific angle is adjusted according to actual needs.
